Workaid UK donates machines to VPM

Workaid UK has donated 19 sewing machines (manual and electric), accessories, carpentry kits, knitting machines, wool & needles in August 2020. VPM is so grateful to Workaid UK over the years donating machines to our women vocational training program for equipping women with tools for skills. But we are sad to report that this is the last donation of machines to VPM from Workaid UK.

Meanwhile VPM women vocational training is in recess till January 2021 when we shall restart a new class for the new academic year. The class of 2020 was disrupted by COVID 19 for both students and tutors. Women students were ready to resume classes but the VPM committee decided to suspend it until next year. As you can see the statement from Workaid, they have stopped the machine donations to VPM and other projects in Kenya, which means the future of VPM women vocational training and gifting machines to successful desperate women who pass grade 3 trade tests, now is unpredictable and hangs in the balance. We appeal to donors to send VPM machines that they have at home which they don’t use to help VPM women skills development.
